Alma Mater Education is dedicated to providing high-quality, holistic secondary education and hands-on agricultural training to students in rural Ghana. Founded in 2015, we equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to achieve successful livelihoods and create lasting community impact.
WIOSO Senior High School
Alma Mater Education’s first school is situated in a very rural location about 1½ hours from the city of Kumasi, in the Ashanti region of Ghana. Established in 2015, the school provides comprehensive secondary education for up to 550 students across three year groups, with more than 400 living full-time in on-site boarding facilities.
The Organic Farm
The school’s organic farm has become an integral part of the project in recent years, primarily for the provision of fresh produce for our school-meals programme and home-economics department, but also more recently by raising vital revenue for the charity by adopting a more commercial approach to the use of its land. In the long term we hope to demonstrate the opportunities in ethical and sustainable farming that could negate the need for young people to travel to cities for employment.

How you can help
Sponsor a child
By donating just £35/$48 a month you can support all the costs of a child at our school. This includes all teaching, boarding and subsistence, sports and pastoral care.
Recent Campaigns
We regularly run exciting new campaigns, such as our Menstrual Health Hygiene campaign that kicked off on the 28th May and will run over the next year with the school and local community. We are working on several projects at any one time, such as our campaign for a second level for our classroom blocks to provide much needed additional classrooms and our Inspire the Next Generation campaign.
